The Children's Community Head Start Program

The Children’s Community Head Start program is designed to serve three to five year old children from low income families. Eligibility for the program is determined by family income and need as well as residence within any of the following school districts: Middle Country, Sayville, Sachem, Comsewogue, Miller Place, Shoreham-Wading River, Port Jefferson, Rocky Point, Three Village and Mt. Sinai, as well as in partial areas of three school districts: Connetquot, Longwood, and Smithtown.

With an enrollment of 159 children and families, the Children’s Community Head Start program provides educational, emotional, social, psychological, nutritional and health assistance to eligible children and their families.  Full and part day classes are offered at two sites: Ronkonkoma and Port Jefferson.

Four major service areas (Education/Disabilities, Health, Parent Involvement and Family Services) ensure that each child and family have access to a full range of services to support them.  The Children’s Community Head Start program relies heavily on parent participation and volunteers. The Head Start program also relies on local professional support for health, psychological, dental, mental health, nutritional, educational and family services.
